Summary of the Position:

The Associate Director of Advocacy develops relationships with third-party organizations and key influencers to advance Novavax’ mission, pipeline, science and leadership within the assigned US Region.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Advocacy

  • Create, enhance, and sustain an ongoing network of credible relationships among and between provider policy and vaccine consumer organizations at the national, state and regional level.
  • Share these relationships with our field sales team to strengthen their position as a fully integrated champion for the communities in which they serve.
  • Help drive education and advocacy for Novavax science and technology.
  • Advocate for COVID-19 vaccine choice, boosters and ongoing immune vigilance.
  • Activate and execute aligned third-party initiatives, social media, workshops, symposia, webinars, and innovative patient programs that deliver sound vaccine education.
  • Galvanize collective action to enhance or defend our business interests.
  • Represent the company at corporate roundtables and relevant national/local conferences.
  • Proactively support cross-functional needs of Government Affairs, Market Access, Marketing and Communications, Sales, Medical Education, Regulatory, Compliance and R&D.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Galvanize independent champions who engage in media, public hearings, and legislative issues that positively impact our business.

    Job Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Strategic leadership with a minimum of 6-8 years the healthcare industry including specific duties in patient advocacy/engagement. Existing related relationships in the vaccine space a plus.
    • BA/BS Degree or higher
    • History of excellence in managing long-term sustainable relationships at the state and national level.
    • Demonstrated diplomacy and negotiation skills.
    • Excellent people skills. Genuine warmth, collaboration, and teamwork.
    • Keen understanding of industry compliance regulations, educational grants and charitable contributions.
    • Strong oral and written communications skills.
    • Dedication to proactive cross-functional collaboration.


    • Bachelor’s Degree, Clinical and/or Public Health background a plus, but not required.

    Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Strong clinical knowledge and empathy for patients
    • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple priorities
    • Acts with integrity and credibility as an “ambassador” for the company
    • Adaptability

    Work Environment:

    40% travel, field-based
